Pentel Sign Pen, Fiber-Tipped, Black Ink, Box of 12 (S520-A)
$ 0.40
My favorite ballpoint for drawing is the Uniball Gel Impact 1.0mm, which has a great flow of ink and a nice bold line.As far as felt tips go, the Pentel Sign Pen is now my number one. I actually had a weird deja vu moment after I ordered these. I remember that I somehow acquired a blue one many years ago and which is now long lost, but I recall at the time loving the pen and not being able to find more of them.Anyway, this pen is a bit unique in that the nib is pretty long and has a nice taper to it. It’s almost like a short, stiff brush pen. Don’t misunderstand, there is no flex to the nib, but the length allows you to get fine lines with the tip and broad strokes with the side. Having that range is very nice. Also, the nibs are pretty substantial so they hold their shape well.I also like that this is a very compact pen, and very economical. It will fit in any pen case, or your pocket, so it travels easily.The ink flows well, so you don’t get ragged lines, and they seem to last a good long time.This is one of those pens that is inspiring to use. It’s such a simple design, nothing flashy at all, but it’s so satisfying and functional in a unique way. This is a true “classic”.Oh, and by the way, I don’t know what it is, but I’m glad that I’m not the only “pen freak” in the world – which I’ve discovered from reading pen reviews on Amazon. I think it’s the way that different pens feel and react with the page, so discovering a new pen is always a fun experience. (And is the reason why we have a drawer full of pens)
